Der Anfang
Seit 2017 arbeiten wir mit und für Frauen und Mädchen mit Migrations- und Fluchterfahrung in Münster. Damals startete das Projekt im Frauensportverein Münster (FSV Münster) unter dem Namen Integration of Women in Sports (IoWiS). Das Projekt wurde als praktischer Teil der Doktorarbeit von Laura Verweyen, 1. Vorständin, konzipiert und wissenschaftlich untersucht.

Weiterentwicklung
Ab 2019 wuchsen die Angebote von IoWiS immer weiter. Es kamen neue Sportarten und neue Kooperationspartner*innen hinzu. Während der Corona-Pandemie 2019 und 2020 wurde das Online-Angebot ausgebaut. Im Jahr 2021 gründeten 10 engagierte Frauen aus dem IoWiS-Team den Verein Move and Meet e.V. Seit 2022 führen wir als Sport- und Bildungsverein die Arbeit von IoWiS fort und erweitern das Spektrum unserer Sport- und Bildungsangebote kontinuierlich.

Projektarbeit
2023 starteten wir mit unserem Projekt "Sport vor Ort", in dem wir unsere Sportangebote direkt zu den Sportlerinnen in die verschiedenen Stadtteile Münsters bringen - mit mobilen Schnuppertrainings und Kursen dort, wo es Angebotslücken in der Sportlandschaft gibt. Eine Weitervermittlung der Sportlerinnen in Sportvereine vor Ort ist dabei das langfristige Ziel.
Seit 2021 führen wir, in Kooperation mit AWO/Stadtteilbüro Coerde und Bike Bridge e.V., das Projekt "Bike and Meet" durch. Nur in 2024 kam das Tochterprojekt "Bike, Empower and Meet" in Kooperation mit der Waldschule Kinderhaus hinzu. Die Projekte umfassen Aktivitäten rund um das Rad für Mädchen und Frauen: Anfängerinnen-Fahrradkurse, STVO- und Reparaturschulungen, Fahrradtouren, Begleitungen im Straßenverkehr, Empowermentschulungen und Schulungen zu Fahrradtrainerinnen.
Unser Projekt "Engage and Meet" widmete sich 2023 und 2024 der Förderung des Engagements von Frauen mit Migrationsgeschichte im Sport. In diesem Kontext erstellten wir u.a. unser Schutzkonzept, Verhaltens- und Ehrenkodizes für unsere Engagierten und unterstützten Interessierte mit Fort- und Weiterbildungen im Sport.
Das Projekt "Swim and Meet" konnte 2025 gestartet werden - hier bieten wir Anfängerinnen- und Empower-Schwimmkurse für Frauen an, vermitteln Schwimmpatinnen für die ersten selbstorganisierten Besuche in Schwimmbädern und fördern Schulungen, Fortbildungen und Erste-Hilfe-Kurse rund um´s Wasser.
Mit dem Projekt "Walk and Meet" geht es 2026 und 2027 verstärkt um Bewegung an der frischen Luft und Sichtbarkeit von Women of Colour im öffentlichen Raum. Im Projekt kooperieren wir u.a. mit "Sport im Park" vom SSb Münster.

Move and Meet e.V. ist Mitglied im Stadtsportbund Münster, im Landessportbund NRW e.V., im Turngau Münsterland e.V., im Westfälischen Turnerbund e.V., im Deutschen Turnerbund e.V. und im Sports for Development Netzwerk Deutschland.

The beginning
Since 2017, we work with and for women and girls in Münster who experienced migration and flight. Our work started as a project named “Integration of Women in Sports” (IoWiS) in the Frauensportverein Münster (FSV Münster). The project was part of the PHD-thesis from Laura Verweyen, our 1st CEO. She made the concept and did her scientific research on the project.

Further development
From 2019 on, the offers of IoWiS continuoulsy developed. New sports and new partners were added. During the Corona Pandemic 2019 and 2020 we expanded our online offers. In 2021, the project IoWiS became the club Move and Meet e.V. Since 2022 we continue with the work of IoWiS as a sports and educational club and extend our range of sports and educational offers continuously.

Project work
In 2023, we launched our “Sport vor Ort” project, through which we bring our sports programs directly to female athletes in Münster’s various neighborhoods—offering mobile trial sessions and classes in areas where there are gaps in the local sports landscape. Our long-term goal is to help these athletes join local sports clubs.

Since 2021, we have been running the “Bike and Meet” project in partnership with AWO/Coerde District Office and Bike Bridge e.V. Just for 2024, the spin-off project “Bike, Empower and Meet” was added in partnership with the Waldschule Kinderhaus. The projects include cycling-related activities for girls and women: beginner cycling courses, traffic rules and repair training, bike tours, escorted rides in traffic, empowerment training, and training to become cycling instructors.

In 2023 and 2024, our “Engage and Meet” project focused on promoting the involvement of women with a migration background in sports. In this context, we developed, among other things, our safety policy, codes of conduct, and codes of ethics for our volunteers, and supported interested individuals with continuing education and professional development in sports.

The “Swim and Meet” project launched in 2025—here we offer beginner and empowerment swimming courses for women, provide swimming mentors for their first self-organized visits to swimming pools, and promote training, continuing education, and first-aid courses related to water safety.

The “Walk and Meet” project in 2026 and 2027 focuses more on outdoor exercise and the visibility of women of color in public spaces. For this project, we collaborate with “Sport im Park” from the SSb Münster, among others.

Move and Meet e.V. is a member of the Münster City Sports Association, the North Rhine-Westphalia State Sports Association, the Münsterland Gymnastics Association, the Westphalian Gymnastics Association, the German Gymnastics Federation and in the Sports for Development Network Germany.
